As a Circuit Rider with Mass Rural Water Association, you will play a pivotal role in delivering technical assistance and training to personnel within small drinking water systems throughout Massachusetts. Specific Responsibilities: · Travel throughout Massachusetts offering direct onsite assistance to small drinking water systems, supplemented by responsive phone and email support. · Timely completion of all required reports and documentation. · Participate in ongoing technical training programs. · Contribute to organizational marketing efforts through written materials. · Collaborate with management team to set and achieve association goals. · Provide emergency response support to water systems during disasters. · Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal regulations governing water systems. · Foster professional relationships and communication with colleagues, regulators, and the public. · Demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills, working autonomously or as part of a team. · Undertake additional tasks assigned by the management team to advance association objectives. Skills: · Technical experience in water treatment and distribution preferred. We are willing to train a highly motivated individual ready to learn regulatory compliance issues and public water system operations and maintenance. · Ability to communicate effectively in person, in print, and electronically in a professional manner. · Capable of independent decision-making and advisory roles. · Willingness to obtain state professional license(s); Massachusetts Water Treatment and/or Distribution Operator Certification · Possession of a valid driver's license. Physical Demands and Environment: · Extensive travel throughout Massachusetts. · Field Position- exposure to outdoor elements throughout all four seasons. · Establishment of field office in home. · Attendance of a minimum of two multi-day events annually that require overnight stays and travel to other states. · Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse team. Statement of Duties: The employee is responsible for assisting in the proper operation of the Town’s Water Treatment facility, pumping stations and distribution system to provide safe, clean and potable drinking water in accordance with State Department of Health and Federal E.P.A. regulations. Town of Athol
The Athol DPW is currently posting for a “Primary Water Distribution Operator / Sewer Collection Operator”. This is a 40 hour per week union benefited position. This position reports to the DPW Superintendent. The Town of Athol requires a Massachusetts Distribution 2 and Treatment 2 public water supply license. Massachusetts Cross Connection Control survey and backflow tester are also part of the operator’s position responsibilities. Commercial Driving and Hoisting Licenses are required for DPW staff. This position supplements the Treatment staff as needed with aspects of the water treatment system. Athol is a community of 12,000 people with a very progressive DPW water division. The division operates 4 drinking water wells, and (2) small treatment plants. Greenfield DP
Technical and highly responsible work in the operation and maintenance of a large Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP), Water Supply & Treatment Facilities (WS&T), and water/wastewater pumping stations. Responsible for instructing, directing, and setting up for a group of employees in the operation of the water/wastewater facilities. Operates water and wastewater treatment, sludge processing, and chemical feed, pumping and disposal equipment. Five or more years of responsible wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance experience. Familiarity with the operation methods, materials, equipment. High School or trade school diploma required; Associates Degree with a concentration in environmental science or related field preferred. Shall have completed a minimum of 20 class hours in technical courses or workshops related to the wastewater field, engineering, water quality or mechanical or control systems field; or a combination of education and experience. This position requires a 5C Massachusetts Wastewater License. The City is offering an $8,000 sign-on bonus. The first installment of $4,000 will be will be upon completion of the 90-day probationary period, and the second installment of $4,000 will be disbursed upon 1 year of service at the city’s Water Pollution Control Facility. Overtime hours are required on alternating weekends and staggered holidays. Must possess valid Massachusetts Class B Operator’s License (CDL) with Air Brake Certification or able to obtain; HEML Hoisting License or able to obtain. A Grade 5C License from the Massachusetts Board of Certification of Operators of Wastewater Treatment Facilities in order to operate all city wastewater treatment facilities.
